PURPOSE:To hold the spacing for a liquid crystal layer uniform and to make symbol display identifiable at night as well by interposing crystalline fluorescent substance as spacers in a sealing agent for sealing the liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:Granular crystalline fluorescent substance 4 of a size approximately equal to the spacing between two sheets of opposite substrates 1, 1 are used as spacers in sealing a liquid crystal 5 by using a sealing agent 3 such as an epoxy resin of bisphenol a diglycidyl ether type. Granular lead glass, platinum cyanide, suebides of alkaline earth metal, ZnS, CdS, ''Lumogen L Yellow '' (product of I.G. Farbenindustrie A.G.), etc. are used for the crystalline fluorescent substance 4. Thereby, the display device of a long life of which the display is distinctly identified in the nighttime as well is obtained without incorporating any lamp therein. |
