For the transportation of bicycles by motor vehicles, bicycle carriers are used which are attached to the motor vehicle via racks. Provided on a profile piece are a saddle holder which can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction of the profile piece and a bicycle-handlebar holder which has a longitudinally adjustable clamping device and an abutment which cooperates with the latter. In order to be able to design the bicycle carrier in such a manner that it secures the bicycle in an inherently stable manner, i.e. without distorting the bicycle frame in the attachment, and in order to make possible a simple design of the bicycle carrier, the abutment is fixedly mounted directly on the profile piece.
