The walking ski for use on water comprises a foam-filled or inflatable boat-shaped body (1) with foot fixture (10) on its upper surface and a recess (6) with rubber flap (7) at the underside. The recess and flap are arranged such that the flap lodges in the recess during forward movement and projects during rearward movement to provide the necessary resistance in the water. This resistance may, alternatively, be provided by rigid flaps hinged to the underside or to the sides of the body. A keel fin (11) provides rectilinear motion.
