摘要 An improved cooling system for a magnetic barrel coupler is described. Said magnetic barrel coupler has an output drive part which is arranged at one end of an output drive shaft, is fitted with magnets and is arranged in a hermetically sealed housing which is connected to a pressure container. A device which is to be driven can be connected, inside the pressure container, to the output drive shaft. A gas trap which represents a part of the housing and is magnetically permeable encloses the output drive part by means of its magnets. An annular housing which surrounds the gas trap and contains an arrangement of drive magnets is connected to a drive source so that its rotation causes the output drive part to rotate, by means of magnetic interaction. The annular housing has a number of longitudinal slots for the cooling air to pass through to the gas trap in order to keep the temperature rise (which is caused during the transmission of large torques and high rotation speeds by eddy currents therein) within limits. This type of cooling makes it possible to reduce the width of the airgap between the drive part and the gas trap and thus makes it possible to transmit large torques and high rotation speeds which, without the improved cooling, would lead to unacceptable heating because of the eddy currents produced in this case.
