PURPOSE:To obtain the catalyst with high activity containing a small amount of catalytic components, as the catalyst for methanol synthesis, by supporting catalytic components such as copper, zinc and, if necessity, aluminum or the like on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:As the catalyst suitable for synthesizing methanol from hydrogen and carbon monoxide, one prepared by supporting catalytic omponents such as copper, zinc and, according to necessity, aluminum, chromium or the like on a carrier such as alumina, silica or the like is used. Thus obtained supported catalyst shows excellent activity and useful inspite of the extremely small amount of the catalytic components. |
