The bumper surrounds the base of a motor driven fork carrier and comprises two L-shaped components. These extend around the back and two sides of the carrier frame, concealing the wheels of the carrier. They are elastic and are supported on flexible supports on the sides and on springs on the back. A further component of the bumper overlaps the joint between the L-shaped sections along the back of the carrier. The bumper support includes two switches which are activated when the bumper is knocked, to switch off the driving motor. The bumpers help to prevent the operator's feet being caught under the wheels, and also serve as sensors detecting collision with any object to shut off the supply to the driving motor.
