PURPOSE:To carry out running-in of an axial-flow pump or the like in an efficient manner, by operating the pump at a speed lower than that of normal operation, and circulating water to an intake water source via a branch pipe. CONSTITUTION:Running-in for an axial-flow pump 2 is carried out by operating the same at a speed N2 appropriately lower than that N1 of normal operation by a prime mover 3, with a discharge valve 6 being fully closed and an on-off valve 8 being fully opened. Therefore, water is drawn from a pump pit 1 and circulated via a suction pipe 4, axial-flow pump 2 and branch pipe 7 back to the pit 1, at a flow rate Q2 a predetermined rate lower than the normal discharge rate Q1. Thus, it is enabled to carry out running-in at the low water flow rate Q2, without discharging water to an outlet water tank and causing troubles such as over-loading of the prime mover 3. |
