PURPOSE:To increase the strength without losing flexibility, by bundling optical fibers with a jacket, sequentially forming primary and secondary coats at the outside and coating a flexible pipe around the secondary coat. CONSTITUTION:A picture element 1 is constituted by bundling a number of optical fibers with a jacket 2 of quartz tube, the primary coat 3 such as silicone resin to keep fiber strength and the secondary coat 4 of PVC as protection coat are made, and the secondary coat 4 is coated with a flexible pipe 5. The pipe 5 is formed to tube shape by combining .e.g. square S-shaped steel wound in spiral so that the primary coat 4 can be supported stably through intermittent surface contacts. Thus, the strength can be increased without losing the flexibility of optical fibers. |
