PURPOSE:To enable the separation of a flange coupler without making any striking scars in the abutting surfaces of the flanges by a method wherein a separator unit is arranged between the bolts of the coupling flanges and a wedge member is driven into the abutting surface of the separator unit. CONSTITUTION:?-shaped concave grooves 11a, 11b are radially formed in the opposing surfaces of the flanges 1a, 2a for use in fixing bolts for the main flange bodies 1, 2 and a frust quadrangular pyramid member 13 is placed in the concave portion 11. Wedges 14, 15 are inserted into the axial side surface 11c, 11d of the concave grooves 11a, 11b in each of the flanges 1, 2. In order to fix the wedge members 14, 15, the pressing member 17 is placed on the wedge members 14, 15 and a bolt 12 passed through the bolt insertion hole 17a is threadably engaged with the threaded hole 16 of the frust quadrangular pyramid member 13. When the bolt 12 is rotated, the frust quadrangular pyramid member 13 is apt to slide outwardly along with the wedge members 14, 15 to generate an axial component force, so that the flange main bodies 1, 2 are separated to each other. |
