PURPOSE:To make the whole thickness of a liq. crystal dispaly device as small as possible while preventing the formation of interference color by specifying the distance between a substrate for a cover and a polarizing plate or film set at the outside of at least one of a pair of electrode substrates. CONSTITUTION:Transparent substrates 203, 208 having electrically conductive films 204, 205 are adhered to each other with a sealant 206 in-between to form a cell, and a liq. crystal 207 is sealed in the cell. A polarizing plate or film 209 and a light diffusion type reflecting plate 210 are set at the backside of the substrate 208. A polarizing plate or film 202 is set on the surface of the substrate 203, and a transparent substrate 201 for a cover is laid at 5-1,000mum distance (d) from the film 202. Thus, a liq. crystal display of fhigh contrast is obtd. |
