The rotor has a wheel body rotating about a -substantially -vertical axis and carrying two propeller blades. The axis continuously changes position, and the blades are set with respect to each other and to the direction of advance and are controlled (twisted), so that over about three quarters of their rotation-cycle they produce thrust in - substantially - the same direction. The rotor is operable in both a vertical and a horizontal position.
