A method is specified in which a light detector is arranged behind a light source arranged in a row, in which a plurality of semiconductor lasers are arranged in a row, in order to detect the beams emitted to the rear by the semiconductor lasers, by means of which the peak values of the respective semiconductor lasers are detected such that the peak values of the semiconductor lasers are compared with one another, the quantity of light from a respective semiconductor being regulated. A device for carrying out the method is also specified.
