A parking brake (10) for maintaining a rotatable disk (20) in a static condition comprises a piston (50) having a steel stud (60) with protrusions (66) that engage the peripheral edge (20a) of the disk (20) by reason of a spring bias force (70) exerted on the piston (50). When the disk (20) is rotating dynamically, the parking brake (10) is disengaged from the disk by a hydraulic pressure exerted on the piston (50) which overcomes the spring bias.
