Quarternary ammonium salts compositions comprising a mixture of quaternary ammonium salts of general formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 and R2 are aliphatic radicals having from 10 to 22 carbon atoms and in which the aliphatic radicals are saturated aliphatic straight chains, unsaturated aliphatic chains and branched aliphatic chains, and wherein R3 and R4 are alkyl radicals having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and X is a quaternary anion.
