PURPOSE:To reduce the heat transfer area, by arranging a heat exchange pipe having a circular shape in cross section for the heat exchange with a fluid outside the pipe and a thin strip having a width approximately the same as the inner diameter of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:The metal thin strip 7a is uniformly turned by 90 deg. to form a compartment 6a in the pipe 6 of a heat exchanger and is joined to the pipe there with the opposite edges of the strip 7a adjacent to the inner wall surface of the pipe 6. A next compartment 6b is arranged with the end of the metal thin strip 7b normal to the end of the metal thin strip 7a, it being turned by 90 deg. as in the case of the strip 7a to be normal to the metal thin strip 7c of a next compartment. If it is turned more, the resistance will increase, and if the registance is decreased and the turning angle is increased, since the residence time will be prolonged, and a risk such as decomposition at the heat transferring section would occur, the residence time should be as shorter as possible. Thus, the heat transfer area can be reduced, and a decomposable and highly viscous liquid liable to be deteriorated can be subjected to heat exchange. |
