PURPOSE:To prevent any deposited metal from being separated from a carbon plastic electrode for a metal-halogen battery, and prevent any increase of the internal resistance of the battery by providing thin low-resistance carbon black layers on both surfaces of the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A metal-halogen battery is constituted by partitioning an electrolyzer with an ion exchange membrane, placing a positive and a negative electrode in different parts of the electrolyzer partitioned, and supplying and circulating different electrolytes into the positive and the negative electrodes sides. A carbon plastic electrode used for such a battery consists of a base material 101 and thin layers 102 and 103, that are made of low-resistance carbon black and are provided on both surfaces of the base material 101. The thin layers 102 and 103 are formed, for example, by applying either a low- resistance carbon black paste or a paste, which is prepared by adding a small amount of fluorine resin to the above low-resistance carbon black paste, to both surfaces of the base body 101, and heating and pressing the base body 101 coated with the paste. Here, it is preferable that a metal net 104 is buried in the surface of the electrode. |
