The variety of the male asparagus plant is bred to resist mildew (Puccinia Asparagi), resist decaying of the head and foot (Fusarium moniliforme and Fusarium oxysporum) when growing outdoors, and has the capacity to produce edible sprouts. The coupling of this variety of male with a female produces a clonal hybrid which furnishes plants with useful characteristics.
