A transverse vertically movable bearer member 12 is guided by the rear axle 4 of a truck and is connected at its ends by lirnks 14 to brackets 9 pivoted at 11 to the axle 4 so that when the member 12 is depressed by the load on the truck the brackets 9 swing inwardly to bring stabilizing arms 16 carried by the brackets 9 into engagement with the load. A member 22 sliding along the underside of the axle is movable by a hand lever 26 from the position shown in which hooks 23 engage under stirrups 21 to lock the arms 16 open to a position in which the wedge members 24 engage in the stirrups to retain the arms in engagement with the load. The arms 16 are pivotally mounted in brackets 9 so as to fold into a horizontal position.</p> |
