PURPOSE:To improve the image resolution and the picture quality of reproduced pictures by having bands adjacent to each other which are occupied by carrier channels for digital sound signals and video signals. CONSTITUTION:The frequency bands occupied by the carrier channels for both digital sound signals and video signals are set adjacent to each other. The recorded information on a video disk 1 is read by a pickup 3. The RF signals are supplied to BPF 4 for wide-band video FM signal, BPF 5 for narrow-band video FM signal, BPF 6L for an analog voice left-channel FM signal and BPF 7R for analog voice right-channel FM signal. One of video FM signals passed through the BPF 4 and 5 is selected by a switch 8 and demodulated by a video demodulation circuit 9 to be turned into the video output. The sound FM signals passed through the BPF 6L and 6R are demodulated by FM demodulation circuits 10L and 10R and used as the left and right voice outputs. The sound EFM signal separated from the reproduced RF signal by a digital sound EFM signal BPF 7 is used as the right and left voice outputs via a demodulation circuit 11.
