Process for the preparation of solid, chlorinated polymers

A solution obtained by chlorination of an aliphatic polymer in a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent is treated with steam or hot water with deposition of the chlorinated polymer in solid form. The content of residual solvent in the precipitated and dried chlorinated polymer is significantly reduced by carrying out the treatment with steam or hot water in the presence of an amount by weight, lower that the amount by weight of the chlorinated polymer, of a polymer lubricant which is compatible with the chlorinated polymer in the mixing ratio used. The lubricant used is an aliphatic carboxylic acid having at least 8 carbon atoms or an ester or amide thereof or an alcohol having at least 8 carbon atoms.
