PURPOSE:To facilitate the operation, by providing a handset, which is freely attachable and detachable through a hook switch and includes the second transmitter-receiver for radio communication to the first transmitter-receiver, in the main body including the first transmitter-receiver connected to a telephone line. CONSTITUTION:A cordless telephone consists of a main body 1, which has transmitter-receivers 18 and 23 and is connected to a telephone line, and a handset 2 having transmitter-receivers 48 and 42. The handset 2 is provided with a chargeable battery 44 and electrodes 4 for charging. When the handset 2 is put in the main body (at a no-call time), electrodes 4 and 3 for charging are connected, and a switch S2 is closed, and a handset switch 6 is opened. When the handset 2 is separated from the main body 1 (at a call time), the switch S2 is opened, and the switch 6 is closed, and transmitter-receivers 48 and 42 are operated. When private speech is required, the switch 6 is opened, and thus, the transmitter 48 is not operated to apply muting to the receiver 23 of the main body 1 because the FM receiver 23 of the main body 1 is provided with a muting circuit 26. |
