PURPOSE:To recover uranium easily from a dilute uranium solution acidic with sulfuric acid and containing organic materials, by contacting the solution with a specific polymeric material and then with a uranium desorption agent, thereby selectively adsorbing uranium. CONSTITUTION:A uranium-containing ore is leached with sulfuric acid, and the leachate is extracted with an amine extractant composed mainly of a tert-amine. The extraction residue, i.e. a dilute uranium solution acidic with sulfuric acid and containing one or more compounds selected from amines, alcohols and hydrocarbons, is brought into contact with a polymer containing a copolymer of vinylpyridines and divinylbenzenes as a main chain or side chain. The pH of the acidic dilute uranium solution is about 0.5-3.5, and the uranium concentration is about 0.1-30ppm. Then, the polymer is brought into contact with a uranium desorption agent such as aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. The agent is about 0.5- 10N concentration. The uranium is collected and recovered by this process. |
