<p>Decorative sheeting is made by laminating pairs of thermoplastic film layers to enclose opaque inserts such as signs or symbols cut from metal foil, Also claimed is a process for making such laminates in sets of two or more using a (steel) bolster lined with platens which can be directly heated and cooled internally, the laminates being separated by thin infusible plates which are good thermal conductors, (e.g. of brass). Also suitable for making sheet which can be cut to obtain smaller strips each contg. a metal insert as required for e.g. reinforced sidearms or frames for mgf. spectacles, to avoid use of mechanical fasteners and/or solvents or adhesives.</p> |
