<p>There is a thin threadless shaft section below the screw head. The OD of the threaded section is increased in the area of the end facing the head. The self-drilling screw is used for fixing external wall-facing panels, such as those of asbestos cement, on a substructure. Below the screw head, spaced according to facing panel thickness, there is a likewise self-tapping cutting section, of larger OD in relation to the screw thread. This can be formed by a sleeve socket set on the thread of the screw, with cutting edges on it. Stops for this can be pressed on the shaft, at intervals equal to the panel thickness.</p> |
