Fat-containing food or feed powders which disperse readily in aquerous media to form dispersions from which the fat does not separate or produced by mixing the fat with the powdered food or feed, adding 2-15% of water, and subjecting the mixture to highspeed milling to distribute the fat as fine droplets, the treated mixture being dried if necessary to less than 5% moisture content. Examples are of (i) making a powder from molten hydrogenated palm or arachis oil and skimmed milk powder (ii) making a calf food from lard and a skimmed milk powder which may contain vitamins and a mixture of manganese iron and cobalt sulphates and sodium chloride (iii) making a sauce powder from molten hydrogenated palm and arachis oil and a cereal flour (iv) making a vegetable soup powder from hydrogenated palm or arachis oil, flour, potato powder, tomato powder, lecithin, skimmed milk powder, sodium chloride, monosodium glutamate and sugar. |
