A method for preparing a solid catalyst comprising reacting a titanium trichloride composition with a mixture of(1) an ether compound and (2) a specific hydrocarbon compound and/or an organic sulfur compound, the catalyst, in combination with organoaluminum compounds as activators, being useful to polymerize olefins for the efficient production of highly crystalline olefin polymers.
