摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the lubricating characteristic and durability of a magnetic layer in a wide temp. range by forming the magnetic layer contg. oleic acid and ethyl stearate or ethyl oleate and isocetyl stearate on a base. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer contg. oleic acid and ethyl stearate or ethyl oleate and isocetyl stearate is formed on the base. The oleic acid to be used is an unsatd. fatty acid of 18C which is liquid at a room temp. and has excellent lubricating ability. The excellent lubricating function thereof is exhibited and the durability of the magnetic layer is improved particularly when the magnetic layer makes sliding contact with a magnetic head. If the oleic acid is used in conjunction with ethyl stearate or ethyl oleate and isocetyl stearate, the lubricating functions of these three act synergistically. The lubricating characteristic and wear resistance are thereby additionally improved.
