<p>1443193 Two part coupling BUNKER RAMO CORP 19 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 43990/73 Heading H2E Multicontact connector 10 with individually releasable contacts and with anti-tracking properties, shown mated, comprises left hand receptacle 12 with male contacts 77 and right hand plug 14 with female contacts 66. Contacts in each part are retained in one-piece plastics inserts 42 and 46 inside rings 16 and 22. Ring 16 fits over ring 22, locked and pulled against gasket 39 by locking ring 30, with bayonet slots 36 engaging pins 38. Contact retention is similar in plug and receptacle: in the plug, female contacts 66 inserted from rear (right) enter holes 92 until collar 83 abuts on shoulder 95. Inward facing integral slotted fines 98 latch contacts against removal except by means of a special tool (not shown), while thinned integral wall sections prevent tracking between contacts. Wires 68 are crimped in contact tails 84 before insertion. Gasket 53 with conical portions round receptacle pins 77, engaging conical depressions round socket mouths on plug insert 46, maintains protection when engaged. Gaskets 60 and 71 in plug and similar in receptacle seal wiring tails. Inserts 42 and 46 are fitted into shell rings 16 and 22 from the rear of each until abutting shoulders engage, and outward latching skirts as 72 prevent withdrawal. Formation of contact-retaining tins 98 by means of expandible core pins in the moulding process is illustrated in Fig. 4 (not shown).</p> |
