PURPOSE:To shorten printing time for one line by eliminating the need to move a head to the most significant digit when an end code is provided by storing the end code as substitute for print data of each digit expressed by a space code before printing operation, and by checking the end code of each digit during the printing operation. CONSTITUTION:In the data memory of a slave processor which controls a billing machine, such as an automatic cash dispenser, an area for one-line print data is provided and before the line is printed, the 1st-digit-(n)th-digit addresses ma- MA are stored in sequence; and data which are not printed on the digits are checked successively, and the digits are substituted by end codes EC. During the printing operation, a signal from an interface 110 is checked by an end-code detecting circuit 116 and when the end code is detected, an EC detection code is applied to an AND circuit 117. Further, the end code EC from the memory of the processor is inputted to the circuit 117 and when coincidence between both the end codes EC is detected, a printing head is not moved to the most significant digit, thus shortening printing time for one line. |
