<p>Orthopaedic shoes are built with stiff 'L' or 'U' shaped strips extending past the ankles from the heel or instep zones to the cuff of the boot to provide lateral support. The strips may be of metal (steel) or (unspecified) plastic matl. Adaptable to boots with front or side openings and laced, sliding clasp, buttoned, or elastic closures. Opt. the stiffening strips are covered with a felt or (polyester) foam to distribute any local pressure peaks. The shoe bodies may be of (soft) leather or fabric, with stiff or flexible soles, pref. ventilated near the toes.</p> |
