PURPOSE:To improve a balance of a relative sensitivity proportioning their respective explosion lowest limits against methane, butane, and hydrogen, by a method wherein given amounts of indium oxide, dysprosium oxide, and palladium oxide form an effective component. CONSTITUTION:Starting powders are weighted at a proportion of 50-60wt% indium oxide, 40-50wt% dysprosium, and 0.06-5wt% palladium oxide. The indium oxide and disprosium are first mixed and temporarily burned at 800 deg.C or 1,000 deg.C. The palladium oxide is added to the temporarily-burned product to be mixed by means of a grinder. A given amount of the mixture powder is weighed, two platinum wires are embedded therein to compress them into a column, and the work is burned in the air at 600 deg.C or 1,000 deg.C for 3hr to form an element. The element so produced is brought into contact with methane, butane, and hydrogen in a manner to maintain it at a constant temperature of 450 deg.C, and this allows the element to display a better balancing sensitivity. |
