PURPOSE:To manufacture a scanning stylus with very ease through single chucking, by polishing ridge parts between both sides of a back surface side and both sides of a front surface side specifically and respectively while chucking a columnar stylus material having an electrode film on the back surface. CONSTITUTION:While a columnar stylus material 10 of sapphire, etc., having an electrode film 11 stuck on the back surface is chucked as shown by an arrow, ridge parts 12a and 12b between the back surface, and left and right flanks succeeding to it are polished away, thus performing the 1st polishing work which determines the shapes of the ridge line and back surface sides so that the electrode film 11 has a prescribed opening angle beta. Then, ridge parts 14a and 14b between the left and right flanks and a front surface succeeding to them are polished away, thus performing the 2nd polishing work which determines the shape of the front surface side. Then, a peak part 16, for example, is polished into a specular surface and this worked body 10'' is used as a scanning stylus 17 for the reproduction of a video disk which has no scanning-stylus guide groove. |
