<p>PURPOSE:To readily and accurately print a bar code by printing bars along a conveying direction with a plurality of thermal elements arranged perpendicularly to the conveying direction of an article to be printed. CONSTITUTION:Many thermal elements 16 are arranged laterally with respect to the conveying passage 9 of an article to be printed, the application of a voltage is selectively enabled for the respective thermal elements 16, thereby forming a printing head 5. A rolled sheet piece 14a cut in the prescribed size from a rolled sheet 14 is fed along a conveying passage 9 while holding the piece 14a between a printing head 5 and a feed roller 6 together with a thermal carbon sheet 10. On the other hand, a voltage based on a bar code information signal is selectively applied to the thermal elements 16 to print bar code 18 formed of bars 17 with the prescribed width and isolating distance on the piece 14a along the conveying direction, thereby feeding the piece to a sheet issuing unit 3.</p> |
