The position of the ball is formed by one or more linear scanning devices across the alley and an associated indicator. The arrangement is designed for simplified prodn. and assembly. The scanning device is in the form of a contact strip in the plane of the alley consisting of two resistive strips. The resistive strips lie parallel to each other and are separated by a small distance perpendicular to the plane of the alley. The ends of the two strips are connected to an electrical resistance measurement device which is connected to the display device. The strips are held apart by a foil in the form of a strip with resistive foil on both sides.
