A device (Fig. 1) for the upward conveyance of pieces of timber (4) by means of a chain conveyor (2, 3) from an adjusting table (1) to a sorting device (8) comprises a lifting means (6) which can be swivelled between an end position underneath the chain conveyor (2, 3) and an end position projecting beyond the chain conveyor (2, 3), in which latter position conveyor belts arranged on the lifting means can raise the timbers up to a transverse row of lifting hooks (21), said hooks being vertically swivellable for transferring the timbers to a buffer store device (7) with conveying chains (17) and stopping hooks (23, 24, 25) distributed along the device (7), and the stopping hooks stop the advance of timbers temporarily when an obstacle is formed by preceeding timbers. If such an obstacle is not present, the timbers are transferred to the sorting device (8), whose drivers (34, 35) mounted on conveyor chains form such a support for the timbers that these can be seen from all sides, after which a sliding track (41) from the sorting device serves to guide the timbers back to the chain conveyor. <IMAGE> |
