Surface oxide freed copper wire-rod - from continuous casting and rolling processes

The process comprises (a) passing the oxidised rolled wire rod at a high temp through >=1 treatment zone comprising a long open ended pipe through which a liquid non-acid colder treatment compsn. flows and (b) continuously passing the treatment compsn. into the pipe where it contacts the wire rod for long enough for the oxide layer on the rod to undergo thermal shock and to react with the treatment liquid so that the rod is simultaneously colled and scoured to remove its oxide layers before being coiled. The wire is made by continuous casting followed by rolling.
