1,135,601. Locks. PITNEY-BOWES, Inc. 16 Dec., 1965 [24 Dec., 1964], No. 53411/65. Heading E2A. [Also in Divisions G4 and G6] A lock 4 for use in resetting the numeral wheels of a register of a postage meter (see Division G4) comprises a plug 5 rotatable within a barrel 6. The plug is normally blocked against rotation by pairs of spring biased lock pins 7. Plug 5 is bolted to a cylinder 21 which is connected through gears 22, 24 and shaft 14 to resetting wheels. On turning the key 8 through a given angle a slot 27 in cylinder 21 is aligned with pin 26 allowing the plug 5, barrel 6, cylinder 21, gears 27, 24 and shaft 14 to move longitudinally so that the resetting wheels 13 may engage various numeral wheels. Key 8 is then rotated, said rotation being transmitted via gears 22, 24 and shaft 14 to the resetting wheels.
|
