<p>In a multi-purpose metal strip or wire bending machine including an eccentric press from which the strip or wire passes to a bending unit the press (3) is mounted on a bed (4) which is provided with guides on which the bending unit is mounted displaceably to permit adjustment of the distance between the bending unit and press. The bending unit comprises a frame (18) having a circular opening (19) concentrically within which a core (20) is arranged to define an annular opening that constitutes a guide for pairs of supporting segments (22) for the tool-holder carriages (23) so that the carriages may be positioned adjustably at different angular positions on the core, the angular positions of the cams for actuating the tools being adjustable so that the same set of cams can be used for effecting different operations.
