PURPOSE:To enable the highly accurate detection of position by computing the center position of a test object through the processing of photoelectric conversion signals after the object is placed between a projector and a light receiver employing a photodiode array. CONSTITUTION:A test object is placed between a projector and a light receiver employing a photodiode array comprising a plurality of photodiodes and signals of the photoarray corresponding to the shade of the object is computed to calculate the center position of the object thereby detecting the position. For example, a wire material 1 in a vulcanization tube 5 is irradiated from a projector 13 by way of a transparent glass 10a and a screen 14 and a shade image thereof is formed on a photoarray 17 via the transparent glass 10b, a lens 15 and an aperture 16. Photoelectric conversion signals are processed to determine the center position of the wire material thereby enabling a highly accurate detection of the position regardless of diameter dimensions of the wire material. |
