PURPOSE:To enhance the formation stability of a positive electrode, and obtain a thin positive body by unifying a positive mixture and a non-woven graphite fabric treated with a specified polymer by compression molding. CONSTITUTION:A non-woven graphite fabric 3 immersed in an ethylene acrylic- acid copolymer is placed on a positive mixture 2, and they are unified by compression molding so as to make a positive body 1. For instance, a non-woven graphite fabric, which has a diameter of about 8-10mum and a thickness of 150- 450mum and weighs 20-40g/m<2>, is impregnated with an aqueous solution containing 15wt% of an ethylene acrylic-acid copolymer, and the fabric coated with the solution is heated and dried at 60-100 deg.C. Here, the impregnation ratio of the copolymer to the fabric fiber is around 1-10 to 100. The positive mixture 2 is prepared by using manganese dioxide, argentous oxide, silvic oxide, mercury oxide or the like as an active material. By the means mentioned above, a thin positive body without any crack or nick can be obtained since it is reinforced with the non-woven graphite fabric. Besides, the positive body can resist sealing pressure developed during the assembly of a battery. |
