PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the leakage of molten metal at the time of continuously casting by detecting extending force of a side dam toward roll axial direction and controlling pushing force of the side dam, so as to become the pushing force corresponding to the deviation between this extending force and the regulating value. CONSTITUTION:Each dam 3, 4 is arranged at the end face of axial direction for one pair of rolls 1, 1' to pool the molten metal 2, and thin plate 11 is continu ously produced from the most narrow gap part between both rolls. At the time of casting, detecting signal F of load detector 6 detecting the extending force is continuously sent to an arithmetic sequence unit 13 and it is compared with the regulating value F0 of extending force in there. In the case of the deviation value DELTAF=F-F0>0, as the extending force of side dam 4 exceeds the regulating value, the pushing force of side dam 3, 4 is increased by a hydraulic pressure cylinder 12. In the case of the deviation DELTAF=0, the hydraulic pressure at this time, is kept and in case of DELTAF=negative, the hydraulic pressure is controlled so as to decrease. |
