<p>The pressure plate (11) is incorporated in a diaphragm clutch for a motor vehicle being coupled to the cover (10) by straps (30). Pins (37) built into the plate are riveted (38) to fix the plate to the strap, comprising at least the shaft portion of a pin, and being installed at the time the plate is cast. The pin may have an enlarged base (36) which stands proud on the major internal face of the plate, or alternatively the base may be wholly or partly embedded in the plate. The clutch may permit axial displacement of the plate relative to the cover whilst the two pieces are fixed together in rotation, the diaphragm (12) tending to separate them in the axial sense with the reaction furnished by the cover.</p> |
