PURPOSE:To prepare L-lysine, in high yield, by culturing L-lysine-producing mutant belonging to Brevibacterium genus and resistant to N-2-thenoyl-methionine. CONSTITUTION:A homoserine-requiring, S-(2-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine-resistant, N-2-thenoyl-methionine-resistant, L-lysine-producing mutant belonging to Brevibacterium genus, is obtained by the mutagenic treatment of an L-lysine-producing bacterium belonging to Brevibacterium genus (e.g. Brevibacterium devaricatum ATCC 14020) with UV-light irradiation or with a mutagenic agent such as N-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine. The mutant is inoculated in a medium containing carbon sources, nitrogen sources, inorganic salts and nutrient requiring substances, and cultured at pH 5.0-9.0 and 24-37 deg.C for 2-7 days, and the L-lysine produced and accumulated in the medium is collected. |
