<p>The electronic units and loudspeakers are mounted in a ribbed base plate which is fitted to the car roof using a tensioning device. Two banks of loudspeakers each containing medium and high frequency cones, are positioned so that both driver and passenger receive similar sound images. A central console containing a variety of audio control functions, including a cassette tape deck, can be operated by the driver with little distraction. Because of the close proximity of the speakers, the necessary audio power is low and short leads are sufficient. The tuner aerial lead length can also be small. The system is esp. suited to low frequency audio filtering and separate base amplification. The audio system provides better stereophony, incorporates a larger, more comprehensive console and is less conspicuous in the car, giving rise to a lower than normal risk of theft of car audio equipment.</p> |
