In order to be able to accommodate a bedside cabinet in a space-saving manner when the latter is not in use in a bed having at least one such bedside cabinet associated with it, the head (5) of the bed is provided with a hollow space, into which the bedside cabinet (9) can be inserted. For this purpose, the bedside cabinet (9) has castors (11), with which it is supported on the floor at its outer side. On its inner side facing the head (5) of the bed, the bedside cabinet (9) is guided on a guide (13) which is arranged in the hollow space of the head (5) of the bed. Seated on this guide (13) is a journal, about which the bedside cabinet (9) can be furthermore swivelled when it has been pulled out of the opening of the head (5) of the bed. <IMAGE>
