This cleaning device for the field of vision comprises a visor wiper device having a wiper arm which can be moved back and forth between two lateral end positions and is guided on a guide rail curved to correspond to the visor curvature, and an actuating device for the wiper arm. The guide rail and the actuating device are covered by a casing and, together with the latter, form a constructional unit which is fixed to the visor. For actuation by hand, a pull cord can be provided which projects from the casing and with which the wiper arm is pulled from the one end position counter to a restoring force, preferably spring force. The actuating device can also contain an electric motor and a chain gear mechanism, whose endless chain, guided in the form of a loop curved like the guide rail, is coupled to the wiper arm. These easy-to-operate cleaning devices guarantee good vision even in poor driving conditions and do not impair the protective function of the helmet since they are ejected together with the visor in the case of impact. <IMAGE>
