A particle size distribution analyser contains a particle detector producing signals corresp. to the size of the particles according to the difference between the electrical or optical characteristics of the liquid and the particles dispersed within it. It is improved compared to conventional analysers to produce highly accurate results rapidly and enables data processing and distribution curve statistical analysis. Several comparators connected in parallel with the particle detector drive frequency dividers connected to a common input /output circuit. Different external conditions are input via an input unit. The input-output circuit is connected to the input unit, an operation circuit a ROM, a read-write memory and an output circuit connected to a display and/or to a recorder. The analyser is esp. for use with microscopic blood corpuscles.
