PURPOSE:To enable the semi-continuous preparation of high purity hydrogen gas, by carrying out the heat exchange between at least one set of vessels containing H2-gas occluding alloy through a heat-storage vessel, thereby utilizing the heat of H2 occlusion to the liberation of H2. CONSTITUTION:The air in the pipe 3 is replaced with industrial H2 gas of the bomb 1, and the hydrogen-refining vessels 7, 7' and the piping are evacuated with the vacuum pump 16. H2 gas is released from the bomb 1, passed through the H2-refining vessel 7, and occluded in the H2-occluding alloy 8. The heat generated by occlusion is accumulated in the heat-storage vessel 19 by circulating the heat medium through the heat-exchangers 17, and 21. Then, H2 gas is occluded in the H2-occluding alloy 8' in the H2-refining vessel 7', and the heat of occlusion is accumulated in the vessel 19 by the heat exchangers 17' and 21. After the completion of H2-occlusion, the H2 gas occluded in the alloy 8 can be liberated through the pipe 13 in high purity by opening the valves 12 and 14. The H2 liberation can be carried out effectively by heating the alloy 8 by the heat accumulated in the vessel 19 through the heat-exchangers 17 and 21. Similarly, the heat of H2-occlusion in the vessel 7 is accumulated in the vessel 19, and H2 gas is liberated from the vessel 7' by the accumulated heat. |
