PURPOSE:To perform transfer and reproduction easily in a short time by bringing a disk, on which information is recorded by forming bits, into contact with a photothermomagnetic recording medium and by applying a magnetic field while varying the temperature of the said medium by light irradiation in accordance with the bits. CONSTITUTION:On a glass base plate 5, a recording layer 6 is formed by using a photothermomagnetic material, such as CrO2, MnBi, amorphous GdCo, and amorphous TbF6, and on the layer 6, an SiO2 protective film 7 is provided, thus forming a photothermomagnetic recording medium 8. Then, a master disk 4 obtained by recording information on a recording layer, formed by applying a glass disk 1 with opaque photoresist 2, by bits 3 formed by laser beam is stacked on the medium 8 so that the layer 7 and resist layer 2 are in contact; and the side of the glss plate 1 is irradiated with laser beam L and a magnetic field B is applied as shown by arrows to decrease coercive force Hc while raising the temperature of a part (bit corresponding part) irradiated with the light L, thus magnetizing the layer in the direction of the applied magnetic field B. Consequently, transfer and reproduction are achieved in a short time. |
