PURPOSE:To prepare the titled powder rod having a thick layer for clad, by sintering an oxide powder rod having a layer for core or a layer for core and a layer for clad obtained by hydrolyzing reaction through flame so that it is shrinked, forming the layer for clad. CONSTITUTION:The rotating rod 6 is turned at a temporary line position, oxide powder for core is blown from the burner 1 toward the tip of the rod 6, and oxide powder for clad from the burner 2, so that the initial oxide powder rod A consisting of the layer 7a for core and the layer 7b for clad is formed. The rotating rod 6 is raised depending on the growth rate of the rod A, and the rod A is introduced to the heating furnace 5. The rod 6 is partially sintered in the furnace 5, and the volume is shrinked to form the incompletely sintered rod B. The rod B is passed through the furnace 5, oxide powder is deposited on the outer periphery of the rod from the burner 3, and then from the burner 4, to form the layers 7c and 7d for clad. Thus, the oxide powder rod C having a layer for clad having a given thickness is prepared. |
